Now let's talk lamps!
A few years back we inherited two brass lamps from my grandparents. You know the ones I'm talking about... those bright gold, 70's looking brass lamps. As charming as they were, I decided they were in need of an update.
Metallic silver spray paint to the rescue!

Now let's talk lamps!
A few years back we inherited two brass lamps from my grandparents. You know the ones I'm talking about... those bright gold, 70's looking brass lamps. As charming as they were, I decided they were in need of an update.
Metallic silver spray paint to the rescue!
{Yes, I painted them in my ugly, old kitchen. It was the dead of winter and freezing cold... I wasn't about to go do it outside!}
I added a plain white lamp shade to both lamps and they've lived happily ever after in my home for about a year now....
Until I got tired of looking at boring white lamp shades. So I decided to add ruffles...
lots of ruffles.
Boy, was that a mistake! The ruffles just looked messy to me, and when I asked my husband what he thought, he said this crossed the line between a "decorated" home and a "girly" home. And I have to say, I agreed. This was just one of those projects that would only live to see a few short days.
So the ruffles got ripped off, and I was back to square one with a boring white lamp shade. It needed some texture and dimension to it...
{light bulb moment}
BURLAP!
I wrapped the shade with the same white burlap I fell in love with from my Burlap Autumn Pillow.
I used Elmer's Spray Adhesive to attach the burlap to the shade, so it could be easily removed if I ever wanted to change the look again.
Don't you just love the warmth burlap brings?
They are looking much better, right? Well I hope I've inspired you to create something FABULOUS this weekend!
