NEW Mighty Shiny Lip Gels and Luminous Creme Blushes from Youngblood Cosmetics!

Youngblood cosmetics has some exciting products lined up for the Summer. Launching June 1st will be 2 colorful additions to their line of Luminous Creme Blush, as well as 7 gorgeous Mighty Shiny Lip Gels. I had the opportunity to try out a few of the new shades before they were released, and.. oh my goodness. Let's start off with the blushes:
Luminous Creme Blushes- YBSkin.com

The Luminous Creme Blush is a total revelation.. they blend completely effortlessly, and are oh-so-pigmented. I am very fair so I only needed a tiny bit for a lovely, natural flushed look. The texture is moist and creamy. The problem I've had with creme blushes in the past is that they didn't spread or blend well, and sort of "dragged" upon application. I had no issues with this blush. The finish is perfect... not too matte or shiny, just perfectly dewy and natural. I tried the "Plum Satin" shade- a lovely dusty rose color:
Luminous Creme Blush- in Plum Satin- YBSkin.com
The second part of the Summer release is the range of Mighty Shiny Lip Gels. These were just as impressive as the blushes. They are incredibly shiny and come in an array of lovely colors, but the real kicker is the formula. Most high-shine glosses that I have are uncomfortably sticky. These aren't sticky at all.. they are moisturizing and they stay put! Ingredients like meadowfoam and jojoba seed oil make these ultra-nourishing for the lips.
Lip Gels- YBskin.com
The shades are all soft, sheer, natural-looking, and totally wearable. I tried out two shades- Confessed, and Unveiled. Confessed is a sheer, juicy red while Unveiled is a bright pink with a hint of shimmer. Both are gorgeous!
Confessed Lip Gel- YBskin.com

Unveiled Lip Gel - YBskin.com
Both the Luminous Creme Blushes and the Mighty Shiny Lip Gels get my stamp of approval. They both passed the wear test, below is a picture of me wearing the Plum Satin blush and the Unveiled lip gel several hours after application. The care that was taken in formulating these is evident when you wear them... just super high-quality, ultra-luxe, high-performance cosmetics.

They aren't cheap- the blushes retail for 27.00 , the lip gels for 22.50, but this is one case where the old adage "You get what you pay for" really rings true. These are SO splurge-worthy. Starting June 1st, you can find these at YBSkin.com
What are your favorite beauty splurges? These are destined to become one of mine!
Thank you so much for reading!
All the best,
Jessica

Wedding Week Day 4: The Ceremony

Today in our Wedding Week series, I'll focus on the most special part of our wedding day, The Ceremony.

IMG_0750 edit

Since we got married on a golf coarse, we decorated the ceremony very minimally. All the beautiful green scenery was decoration enough. We made our programs ourselves using extra paper we had and some ribbon.

DSC04463 edit

For our ceremony, my Aunt Joy agreed to marry us. It made our wedding so special to have family play such an important role.

IMG_0742 edit

Do you see the woman holding a computer in the background? The computer is my Aunt Rhonda Skyping from her job in Turkey since she wasn't able to be there! How cool is that?!

IMG_0718 edit

From the second I grabbed my Dad's arm and took my first step down the aisle, I cried my eyes out. I was just so in the moment and overcome with emotion. When I got up to Jeremy, my Aunt kindly instructed him to wipe my tears away. He even knew to dab instead of wipe so all my makeup didn't come off!
IMG_0739 edit

I was so nervous that I put Jeremy's ring on the wrong hand. He was quietly trying to tell me it was the wrong one, but Aunt Joy, in her own way, said to zip it. And he did.

We wanted something different than the typical wedding music. We fell in love with Vitamin String Quartet after a DJ suggested it to us. They have all kinds of albums specializing in string versions of rock songs. We used All I Want Is You (a tribute to U2) for the bridal processional and You Shook Me All Night Long (a tribute to ACDC) for our recessional. Before you judge the ACDC choice, listen to the song!! It's awesome and gave all the 80's babies in the crowd a big smile when they recognized it!

I wanted to do some sort of a unity candle, but being an outdoor wedding I wasn't sure how windy it would be. I didn't want to spend an hour trying to get candles to light! So instead we used flowers. When each of our Mothers walked down the aisle to be seated, they carried a special bouquet of flowers. Each bouquet had flowers and colors that represented our families. They carried the bouquets up to a table in the front and placed them in separate glass vases.

IMG_8718 edit

During our ceremony Aunt Joy instructed Jeremy and I to go to our family's bouquet, remove a flower, and place it in a new glass vase, signifying the unity us and our families together.

I loved the new take on the traditional unity candle, and it gave our Moms a special role in the wedding.

Since both our ceremony and reception were in the same location, we had a very limited time to take pictures after the ceremony. I didn't want to keep our guests waiting for hours while we took all the pictures we wanted. So Jeremy and I decided to do a special "first look" photo session before our ceremony. Some people love this idea and some people hate it, but I truly believe it was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. We got to have a special moment just the two of us (plus the photographer) to see each other for the first time and spend a little bit of time together before the ceremony. Getting to see him put me at ease and made me forget about all my nervousness.

That might have been that hottest day we had all year long, but it was perfect! I'll never forget the day I married my best friend and soul mate!

Here's what we've covered so far in Wedding Week:

Help us celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary and stay tuned for the rest of Love Grows Wild Wedding Week!

i want more

via weheartit
ph: weheartit

I don’t know why.

Why I was so foolish to have fallen for the fairytale.

I have foolishly fallen in love with a man who cannot love me the way I deserve to be loved.

But what I deserve is so grand, I wonder if any man will ever be able to pull it off.

Not without great confidence… and passion, that’s for sure.

Why aren’t you that man? You told me you could be.

You held that confidence once. But where was the passion?

Where was that passion? Was it ever there? Does it even matter to you?

I don’t know why.

Why I believed you.

That you were “in it to win it”.

But you pictured your future with me. Didn’t you?

Was it as beautiful as I imagined it could be?

I want you to fight for us. I want you to come running with grand gestures. I want you to have passion and love and a determined commitment to the concept of “us” – as best friends, as lovers, as partners, as a whole new entity that moves together.

I want you to kiss me from the bottom of your heart and tell me that you will never leave me. That you will always fight for us. Because you believe in us. That we have something special that transcends any challenge that comes our way. I want you to be my fantasy.

I want you to be the man that sweeps me off my feet. I want you to be the man that I can trust to hold my hand, my heart, and my soul. The man I want to raise children with. I want to let our egos go and just fall into each other’s arms. I want to feel like you never want to let me go.

I want more than what you are willing to give.

I don’t know why.

Wedding Week Day 3: The Decorations

For me, the most fun part of planning my wedding was deciding how to decorate the ceremony and reception. I had a limited budget, but with some inspiration and creativity I was able to transform my vision into my gorgeous dream wedding!

I said it before on Day 1 of Wedding Week, and I'll say it again: personalize! I cannot stress enough how much the little touches make the biggest difference in your wedding. It doesn't matter how much your dress cost, how many tiers are on your cake, or how fancy of food you serve... what matters is the little things that make your guests feel extra special. And they don't have to cost a ton of money! Here's some of the decorations and personal touches we did for our wedding:

I wanted our guests to feel pampered as soon as they arrived to town for the weekend. We had many out-of-town guests that stayed at the hotel I recommended on our wedding invitations, so I created a welcome bag that was handed to each guest as they checked into the hotel. I had brown kraft paper bags that I decorated with stamps and filled them with snacks, candy, and water bottles. I also included a welcome message thanking them for coming and giving some information about the hotel's restaurant and our hospitality room. These door knob hangers I made were a fun addition to the bag:

We got married at a golf coarse that had a beautiful, large banquet hall. One whole wall was lined with windows, which gave us a gorgeous view of the golf coarse. The only down side to having all those windows and getting married in the summer, was how late it stayed light in the room. I wanted so badly to line the tables with a million flickering candles to create a romantic ambiance, but it would have made for a very boring tablescape until night fell.

So I chose to do flower centerpieces instead. To save money on my flower bill, I did them myself! I purchased wooden candlestick holders from Hobby Lobby and spray painted them blue. I found white silk flowers, trimmed the stems short, and arranged them in a small floral foam ball. Once I got to the reception hall I glued the foam ball to the top of the candlestick holder. I arranged the centerpieces on the tables and draped long strands of pearls around the base. Easy and budget-friendly!

100_7883 Edit
(Please excuse the construction going on behind the tables. Somehow one of the huge windows shattered the day before my wedding rehearsal, so they were in the process of fixing it!)

I had a table set up at the entrance of the reception for my guest book, cake pop favors, and a tribute to our 5 grandparents that passed before our wedding day. I printed a poem honoring them on vellum paper, wrapped it around a glass vase, and decorated it with adhesive pearls. I also wrapped my favorite  blue floral scrapbook paper (read about it here) around two smaller vases and laced up the sides with ribbon by using a hole punch on the edges of the paper.

100_7893 Edit
MemorialCandleScreenShot Edit

For our guest book, I didn't want to buy a generic, boring book that only had a place for guest signatures. Who really looks back through those years after the wedding? I wanted something more personal where guests could write a message to us. So I got a mini scrapbook album from Hobby Lobby (they have a variety of colors, and it was only $3.59 after using a 40% off coupon!) and a lined message stamp. I stamped the pages of the book and added a poem or saying about love on each page. Jeremy and I love looking back and reading the sweet messages our guests left for us!

DSC04455 edit

DSC04462 edit

I wanted our guests to have lots to look at and keep them entertained. So my husband and I created these "He" and "She" signs using Microsoft Word. Each of us wrote all the things we love about each other and set them out for guests to read on the gift table. Some of it was romantic and sweet and some of it was funny and silly, but my husband definitely showed me up... He made his whole sign a rhyming poem!

IMG_8671 Edit

I also created a card box for the gift table using cardboard hat boxes that I spray painted blue and flowers from our centerpieces. Here's my awesome sister getting it set up... Sorry I don't have a better picture of it!

251366_10150193816747030_676287029_7174537_767782_n Edit

We had an excellent, large bar area that was in desperate need of some decorating. I picked up a couple oversized martini glasses from Wal-Mart and floated a white flower-shaped candle in some blue water. The night before we decorated I filled milk jugs with water and added blue food coloring until it was the right color. I typed up a bar menu and created a signature drink, "Love for Eternitini". (Looking back, I could have chose a less corny drink name! What can I say, I was drunk with love!)

100_7890 Edit

I also created a simple dinner menu that was tucked into each guest's napkin.

Along a wall diving the dance floor and bar area, I floated candles in curved vases I got from Dollar Tree.
100_7885 Edit

I picked up 2 baskets from the Dollar Store and filled them with travel size bathroom products, one for the women's bathroom and one for the men's. I attached a little note to the baskets that read:

"So happy you're here to share in our special day,
but should something happen to go astray,
Please help yourself to the contents within,
Wet wipe, hand lotion, and even asprin,
Use only what you need and leave the rest,
It may be useful to another guest,
So repair the damage that may have been done,
Then hurry back and join in the fun!"

I hope you've enjoyed seeing some of the ways we made our wedding extra special (and on a budget!) I know there's a lot of projects and ideas here, so if you have any questions please feel free to ask! Make sure to stop by my co-host, Kelley at The Grant Life, and check out her wedding too! And I hope to see you all link up your weddings at our Wedding Week Link Party on Sunday! If you missed any of Wedding Week so far, here's:

Stay tuned for Wedding Week Day 4!

Artsy Wednesday: Skittles! Featuring The New Black Runway Collection

The challenge for this week's Artsy Wednesday nail art post was to do a "Skittles" manicure. That is, a manicure where each nail is a different color. I thought this would be a good opportunity to try out the  Runway Collection from The New Black. This set of 8 colors gave me plenty of choices for a rainbow manicure.

I used the red, orange, yellow, green and periwinkle colors to create the manicure:
Of course, I can't have a "plain" manicure, so I used the periwinkle to create a little heart as an accent on my ring finger. This week's manicure is simple, but really cute and fun for summer. I really love the Runway Collection, there are so many manicure possibilities all in one convenient little set. The quality of the polishes is great, too. All of the colors were opaque, consistent, and beautiful in two coats. I was really pleased with the dry time on them as well. You can find the Runway set as well as other beautiful color-coordinated collections from The New Black at Sephora.com .
Don't forget to check out the colorful creations of the other ladies participating in Artsy Wednesday!

Thank you so much for reading!
All the best,
Jessica

Dead Sea Premier Milk Cleanser

I have very fickle skin. It is generally very dry, but I still get blackheads and have occasional, random breakouts despite the fact that I haven't been a teenager for the better part of a decade. It is hard for me to find a product that addresses all of my skin concerns. I'm happy to say that I found such a product in Dead Sea Premier's Milk Cleanser.
Premierdeadsea.com
I was a little hesitant after reading the instructions- this is a waterless cleanser! You spread it on your face and then wipe it off with cotton balls or tissue. This seemed a little foreign to me, but I put my hesitations aside and gave it a shot, and I am so happy I did. All of the blackheads on my nose and the rest of my face were totally gone after using this for just two days. It leaves my skin feeling really supple and moisturized, but surprisingly residue-free. It really comes off completely with a few gentle swipes of a cotton ball. Since I started using it each night a few weeks ago, my skin has gotten so much clearer. It is honestly the best my skin has looked since before I was a teenager, and I have completely ditched the foundation.. because I have nothing to hide! No blemishes or dry patches..This is a real boon now that its almost Summertime! A little dusting of translucent powder just for shine control and I'm ready to go in the morning. This milk cleanser also removes all traces of makeup.. mascara, eyeliner, you name it. I'm really happy with this product. If you have fickle, sensitive, dry skin like mine I really encourage you to try it. You can find it at www.premierdeadsea.com .
Thank you so much for reading!
All the best,
Jessica

i want to tell you...

DAKOTA SKYE

I want to tell you that I like you.
But I can't tell you that, can I?
I want to tell you to forget about him.
He's a great guy, the best,
and he's my brother
in everything but blood,
and you two are good together,
but I still want to tell you
to tell him to fuck off
and to be with me.
I want to tell you
that since the moment I met you
I can't even get your face
out of my brain.
But I can't tell you that,
that all I want right now
in the world
is to take you away with me.
No him, no here, no this.
Just us.
If just for a day. You know?
But I can't tell you that.
I mean, you can't make me.
I mean, what kind
of a person would I be
if I went and told you
something like that?

Wedding Week Day 2: The Look

Day #2! Today is all about:

Photobucket

From the day you get engaged, ok let's be real, from the day you were born, you've been dreaming about what your dress would look like. You envision your beautiful, white gown with your beautifully dressed bridesmaids beside you and your hunk of a husband standing before you. But to be honest, the idea I've always had of what my wedding would look like turned out to be very different from what I ended up choosing. I never pictured myself in an ivory dress with a full length veil and pearls. But going back to yesterday's post (find that here), the way to create your perfect wedding is to find your inspiration and carry that throughout the entire wedding. And I definitely found the dress to perfectly match the feel of my wedding!

This is the first dress I fell in love with.

Wedding Week The Look DSC01525 edit

Wedding Week The Look DSC01526 Edit

I loved it because it was different. It wasn't a big, fluffy ball gown. The front of the dress was very flattering to my figure, and when I turned around... that beaded piece straight down the back took my breath away! But when I pictured myself in this dress on my wedding day, I saw myself standing on a beach somewhere. It was not quite the elegant gown I was looking for.

Then I tried on this dress.

Wedding Week The Look DSC01524 Edit

Wedding Week The Look DSC01520 Edit

It was plain. It was simple. It was ivory with a champagne belt. On the rack the dress looked so boring and blah. But when I put it on, the mermaid shape hugged my curves and made me feel so beautiful and elegant and sexy and regal all at the same time. It was perfect.

Wedding Week The Look IMG_8358 edit

I paired it with a long ivory veil trimmed in champagne satin and ivory satin ballet flats. I love a good high heel, but I knew that if I stood in those all day long I would be miserable. I also knew we were getting married outside, and I didn't want to be sinking into the ground and tripping while walking down the aisle. I tried on numerous amounts of jewelry, but I kept going back to basic, plain pearls. I wore pearl earrings I purchased from Kohl's and my grandmother's pearl bracelet. Anything else I tried to add clashed with the simplicity of the dress. For my hair, I chose to put it all up in a smooth updo, with the curls pinned low and lots of volume on top. LOTS of volume! I needed some height to balance out my simple dress. It looked very Southern Belle to me. One of my girlfriends called me "Southern Barbie"!

Wedding Week The Look IMG_8362 Edit

Wedding Week The Look IMG_8426 Edit

For my bridesmaid dresses, I didn't have too many requests. I wanted a blue dress with a short length, but more importantly something all my girls felt comfortable in. I got the girls pearl jewelry to wear and let them choose their own white shoes. I know how much it costs to be in a wedding, and I figured if they had to buy a new pair of shoes, it might as well be ones they really like and would want to wear again.

Wedding Week The Look DSC02726 Edit

For Jeremy's look, I knew I wanted to go a different route than a black tux. We were getting married outdoors in June and I wanted to keep it simple, light, and elegant. I chose a khaki colored suit with a white shirt and ivory vest and tie to coordinate with my dress. The groomsmen wore the same khaki suit with a blue vest and tie to coordinate with the bridesmaid dresses. My and Jeremy's fathers wore khaki suits with a mocha colored vest and tie.

Wedding Week The Look IMG_8288 Edit

Our two boys were ring bearers in the wedding so they needed outfits too. Since they were only 1 and 5 years old, I didn't want to have to pay the price of a suit rental for both boys. Some places even make you purchase the suits that small. Before Easter I was shopping in K-Mart and came across some Easter outfits that perfectly matched our wedding! They were only $23 a piece!!

Wedding Week The Look IMG_8643 Edit

The boys looked so cute! I got them brown slip-on boat shoes from Target to go with their outfits. We saved a ton of money not going the formal route with them!

This is what our wedding party looked like all together. It was perfect!
